Our first course, Journeys, explored the remarkable journeys that have shaped our world.

Across four days, students immersed themselves in three powerful stories from history, using critical thinking, creativity and hands-on experiences to explore why humans embark on journeys and how those journeys have shaped our world.

They traced Odysseus’ epic voyage home through map work, storytelling and stop-motion animation, before debating whether he was truly the hero of The Odyssey.

They travelled the Silk Road through virtual reality experiences and sensory exploration, stepping into the shoes of ancient merchants as they encountered new cultures, ideas and innovations.

Finally, they investigated the rise and fall of the Aztec Empire, reconstructing the extraordinary city of Tenochtitlan through engineering challenges before considering the impact of Hernán Cortés’ expedition and the consequences of ambition, conquest and power.

Throughout the week, history was brought to life through discussion, drama, art and practical enquiry, encouraging every student to think deeply, ask challenging questions and leave with a lasting curiosity about the past.
